Head coach Dario Vidosic was encouraged by his team’s performance despite the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in Sunday’s WSL game at the Joie Stadium.
A first-half goal from Khadija Shaw was the difference but Albion caused their hosts a lot of problems, particularly before the break.
Vidosic said, “I’m obviously disappointed that we lost but also encouraged. There was some really good stuff that we have been working on and to be able to apply that against not just one of the best teams in England but in the world is encouraging for us going forward.

“We lacked a bit of defensive structure for the goal, a little bit of positioning was wrong so that was our undoing. We know the qualities they possess, and they took the chance. So that is something for us to learn from but overall there was a lot for us to build on.”
"We knew that we would be times where we would have to defend but we limited their chances. In the second half we didn’t create quite as much as we’d have liked, but they have got some very good players and a strong bench and managed the game well.”
It’s a quick turnaround for Albion who are back in action on Wednesday when they begin their League Cup campaign against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s. “We will treat the competition the same as any other and it’s game we want to win, but with three games in a week there is also the chance for us to give opportunities to some of the girls who haven’t had too much game time yet."
