We caught up with head coach Dario Vidosic after Albion finished the season in fifth place – the highest position in our WSL history.
How do you look back on the season and what has been achieved?
We started well and those early results were a credit to the girls, because they had to learn a lot quickly about the way we wanted to play. As a team and individuals, we have been through a lot. We had a tough winter period when we had quite a few injuries which stretched the squad, but we suffered together. All in all, it’s been a good season which gives us positivity going into next season. I’m excited about the future.
What about on a personal level, as it was your first season in England?

It has absolutely flown by, and there has been a lot to get used to over the past few months, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. There has been so much I haven’t experienced before – little things like frozen pitches and five-hour coach trips to away games turning into seven hours! I have learned so much to put into practice in future, but as a coach I think I have improved and learned so much, about our opponents and our own players, that will help me going forward.
At the Players' Awards, the Players’ Player of the Year was Marisa Olislagers. That seemed to be a popular choice didn’t it…

The players made a terrific pick in Mo. She came in as a left-back but has played as a No6 and a winger but just got on with it and did her best for the team. She’s had a lot of highs and a few low moments, but that’s normal for a young player. She is only going to get better with her first experience of the WSL.
We have also said goodbye to five players…

I’d like to thank Poppy Pattinson, Guro Bergsvand, Maria Thorisdottir, Dejana Stefanovic and Pauline Bremer for their contributions, and you could see what they have meant to the fans with the reception they got after the last home game against Arsenal. I wish them all the very best for their future careers. They are a close-knit group who look out for each other, want the best and are ambitious for themselves and the club. The experienced players like Fran Kirby and Nikita Parris could be singled out, but we wouldn’t be where we are without everyone’s contribution. I’m looking forward to building on our achievements next season.
