Our men’s under-21s beat Brentford B 2-0 on Sunday afternoon to mark the end of a busy week of pre-season.
Shannon Ruth’s squad played two games on Wednesday, beating Bournemouth 5-1 at the Amex Elite Football Performance Centre before losing 1-0 away to Hastings United.
Goals from Harry Howell and Louis Flower secured the win against the Bees at Wheatsheaf Park in Staines.
Howell’s wonderful finish in the first half into the top corner came at the end of an excellent counter-attack that started in Albion’s own box.
Louis Flower then secured the result with the last kick of the game as a smartly-worked corner saw Caylan Vickers setup the striker from close range.
Men’s under-21s head coach Shannon Ruth said, “The game marked the first time some players have played 90 minutes this pre-season which is an important step.
“It was a strong performance in a competitive game. Harry Howell’s goal was excellent after some good work from Josh Duffus.
“It was also a really good test for the back four which included Freddie Simmonds and Jacob Vickers from the under-18s, who both did well.”
