The Gambian was played in by Yasin Ayari and he lifted the ball over the onrushing Paul Nardi, but Jake Clarke-Salter did well to slide in and clear it off the line.
Zan Celar dragged wide from an offside position before Kaoru Mitoma cut in from the right and looked to beat Nardi with a left footed effort, but it was at a good height for the keeper who was able to get two strong palms on it.
The only goal of the game came eight minutes after the restart. Minteh won the ball on the edge of the QPR box before running towards goal, but he was pushed over by Jack Colback, with referee James Linington pointing to the spot. Welbeck was composed from 12-yards, initially pausing before sprinting to the ball and bending it into the bottom right corner.

Several Albion changes saw Jack Hinshelwood make his first appearance since picking up a foot injury in February, before Mark O’Mahony’s hard work nearly resulted in a second goal for Albion, but the Irishman’s cross for Ibrahim Osman was cut out by Field.
