Fabian Hurzeler wants Japan international Kaoru Mitoma to have long lasting memories of our trip to Tokyo.
The German’s team take on Kashima Antlers and Tokyo Verdy in the country’s National Stadium on Wednesday and Sunday.
The games will mark Mitoma’s return to action, after missing most of the second half of the season through injury.
“Kaoru Mitoma is a player who can make a difference in a game,” Fabian said ahead of Wednesday’s match against Kashima Antlers. “He can decide an equal game by one action, by traveling, by shooting, by one unbelievable action. So he's a very important player in my thoughts.
“We try to improve him. We try to give him the support he needs, and of course, I want this week to be special for him. All the team are here to play for him and make this week for him a very, very good memory.
“I think this week will be a special week for him, so I want to give him special support.”
The head coach is also excited to see how his team fares in the upcoming games, in a country he is enjoying visiting.
”I'm really excited about this trip, especially with these two games against two very strong Japanese teams.
“It will be very interesting to see how far we are because in the end it's our pre-season. We see that challenge to win both games and on top of that we are in a very nice city, in a very nice country. There's a lot of sightseeing, there’s a lot of interesting sports.
“It's a nice mix between the old traditional culture and the new facilities; the new high buildings and the universities. It's very exciting this trip.”
