Fabian Hurzeler will be taking it game by game during the busy festive period as the German embarks on his first winter as a head coach without a break in fixtures.
Albion play second game in four days with a trip to Leicester City today after Thursday’s defeat against Fulham, and our men’s head coach doesn’t want his team’s development to be derailed by that loss in London.
“I hope we really focus on the process and our development,” he said. “It is so important to me that we trust the process and keep improving game by game during periods like this.
“One thing is clear, if you judge us every week on one result, you won’t get the development you need – especially with a young squad. It is not about the end of the season but what we do now to help the end of the season.
“If you go into games thinking you must win, you will never achieve something. It's more about focusing on the things you can influence, focusing on how you perform together, how you play together, how you work as a team together, how you defend together.
“These are the things you can influence. When you develop and maximize these things, I'm sure that the results will come and our place in the table will be what we deserve.”
There is also Albion development taking place away from Brighton with Facundo Buonanotte enjoying a fruitful season-long loan spell at today’s opponents.

The 19-year-old is unavailable to play against his parent club, but has so far scored four league goals for the Foxes and Hurzeler has been impressed with the Argentine.
“He is doing a great job. He is developing well and that’s exactly the idea with the loan. He is a very good guy, very humble. He likes to work hard and now he is proving his big potential.
“I’m sure he will have a future here. It’s very important for young players to play and get the game time they need to develop, that’s why we are happy he made the decision with us to go on loan, and happy with Leicester to be giving him the minutes he needs.
“If he continues this development, he will have a bright future in Brighton. When he’s back here, it’s then up to us to continue that development when we are with him again.”
