The free-kick (see previous post) isn't utilised as Danny Welbeck bends his strike straight into the Tottenham wall.

Kevin Danso intentionally blocks the run of Kaoru Mitoma as he looks to dart into the box. Booking and a free-kick in a dangerous position.

That's very close to a Tottenham goal. Conor Gallagher charges down Bart Verbruggen's kick down field and blocks it, but it flies behind for a goal-kick. Could have gone anywhere.

Roberto De Zerbi gets a booking for venturing halfway down the touchline to shout instructions across the pitch. Think he's been told a couple of times by the fourth official not to do that.

All level at the break. What a terrific equaliser from Kaoru Mitoma. After a spell of real pressure from Tottenham, it was a moment of wonderful quality that got Albion back into this.

Albion are riding their luck here. Dominic Solanke slaloms his way down the left and finds Xavi Simons. He cuts into the box and rolls a low shot against the woodwork. Pedro Porro is there for the follow up but his rocket is somehow tipped over by Bart Verbruggen.

Watching that back, nobody is offside. Yankuba Minteh swings in the best cross of the day, finding Jack Hinshelwood at the back stick to nod back across goal. Danny Welbeck is rushing in to tap home, but Micky van de Ven gets there first, smashes the ball against the frame of the goal and fortunately for him it bounces away from the target. The flag goes up, but no Albion player is offside.

Kaoru Mitoma's first action is to block a Xavi Simons shot from the edge of the box that drifts just wide of the bottom left corner. Bart Verbruggen was at full stretch to make sure it wasn't going in. The ball then falls for Randal Kolo Muani in the box, but the forward blasts it into the stand behind the Albion goal.

This looks bad for Diego Gomez. The Paraguayan pulls his shirt up over his face after landing awkwardly having gone up for a header. He's going to be able to walk off the pitch, but that's his afternoon done. Kaoru Mitoma is ready to replace him.

Stuart Attwell has a word with Mats Wieffer after a slightly clumsy challenge on Xavi Simons. There's a bit of a coming together afterwards between the two Dutchmen, but ultimately Mats comes away from his chat with the referee without a booking. Destiny Udogie then bursts into the box, but tries to win a penalty under pressure from Yankuba Minteh, with Attwell rightly waving away the hosts' shouts for a spot-kick.

Tottenham certainly appear to have their tails up in these early exchanges. Destiny Udogie gets down the left and crosses in, with Olivier Boscagli reading the danger and clearing away.

"I think everyone is a little bit surprised, but on the other side it's very important to understand how ruthless the Premier League can be, how tight the Premier League is. "You need to be on your highest level every weekend and we experienced a bad run in the season. If you're not doing the right behaviours on a daily base then you have no chance at the weekend. "It's maybe a little surprise for everyone. But it also shows how intense and ruthless the Premier League can be."
