Goalkeeper Hannah Poulter believes she can grow ‘as a player and a person’ after signing her first professional contract with Albion.
The 19-year-old from Godalming hopes to get her first taste of the WSL this season, having started her career with Reading before spending a year playing in America at the University of Southern California, where she made five appearances for the Trojans on the competitive college circuit in the States, while studying for a degree in human biology.
Hannah is currently in Lithuania as part of the England squad taking part in the Under-19s Euros but can’t wait to start her new challenge with Albion.
“Those experiences have helped me grow as a player but more so as a person, especially my time in California. Hopefully I can bring some of those into the squad here,” she said.
“I’m really proud of how far I’ve come with the academy at Reading and then going out to America, but I’ve always had an eye on playing in the WSL and I’m excited to sign for Brighton.
“I’d never have thought I would be in this position a few months ago so it’s a dream come true really. I’m looking forward to growing as a player and I feel that Brighton is the best place for me to do that and help me fulfil my career goals.
“It’s clear how much Brighton have invested in the women’s side with the brilliant facilities they offer and I’m really happy to be part of it.”
Poulter has represented England at all age groups from under-16s.
