Rachel McLauchlan says the signs are extremely positive after scoring her first goals for the club.
The former Glasgow Rangers defender netted twice in Tuesdayâs 7-0 win friendly against Malaga, the first of two behind-closed-doors games Albion's WFT are playing during their pre-season training camp in Spain.
She believes the team are responding to how new head coach Dario Vidosic wants the team to play.
âI think everyone's starting to find out where they should be on the pitch and itâs all starting to come together as a team,â said McLauchlan.
âDario has done a really good job with us on the pitch and in meetings. I think every day is a learning day. Thereâs a lot to take in but the more games and training sessions we have the more we improve and hopefully the work weâre doing now kick-starts the way the season will go. Weâre starting to build and gel which is really pleasing.â
On a personal level, McLauchlan was delighted to make a contribution in front of goal as she gets to know the club and her new teammates.
âIt was really good to get the goals because you always want to get off to a good start with a new team,â she added. âIt helps me build my confidence. We donât want to put pressure on one person to score in every game. I think it's really good to have other players that can also contribute goals.â
It has been hard work in the hot Spanish sun for the squad, but they have also bonded in the evenings as well. âWe have been playing card games at night that just helps bring the group together," said McLauchlan. "It's really nice to get to know everyone individually as well, because it will help us to grow closer as a group.â
