Dario Vidosic has said that his team can 'learn a lot' from their 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
Dario, what are your thoughts on the game?
"We started off slowly. That sense of belonging on this stage against a very good opponent and the possibility to go top of the WSL if we want – it’s a good learning curve for us.
"But then once we settled down, got into our game and did what we wanted to do we matched them and we created a lot of problems. It was a great game. I had a lot of fun as well.
"It was just a little bit slow in the movement and also our press. We had that a little bit wrong as well. So again, it's something to learn. We know that there's still lots of improvement in the squad, but we're taking the right steps. But for large parts, especially in the second half, we were quite dominant.
"We created some other good chances. It's probably a bit of a tale of two halves for us. But it's now learning that we can try to apply ourselves for longer periods, because we know that with the quality of teams, especially Manchester United, there are times when they're going to be dominant. We defended really well when we had to as well."
What did you change at half-time?
"We needed something a little bit different, to be more aggressive. We saw that there was space in behind, so we had that threat as well. I thought we were a bit more brave and we played quicker. We started to get into the spaces quicker and caused them numerous issues. It's a good one to learn from.
"We had to adapt throughout the 90 minutes, the tweaks that they made, we made tweaks. We'll l take a lot from this once we regroup after the international break."
It’s been a great start with ten points from five games. How have you found the move from Australia to here and what’s the biggest difference?
"The level of quality, against teams like Manchester United, Manchester City and Aston Villa. All the teams that we played, even Birmingham City that we played in the cup. It's all very different. There’s a lot of tough games, and teams are starting to adapt to us as well. So it becomes even harder to prepare because you can see Manchester United in every game, how they played, then they changed things for us.
"It's a great challenge to have, but it's one that we just need to quickly learn from and be able to adapt quickly in a game."
You’ve got the international break and then Leicester City in the WSL…
"It’s another tough game. We played them in pre-season, so we know it's going to be a tough challenge. But I think it's a nice chance now to reflect and review as well after the first period in the WSL, then I'll turn my attention to them. It’s a nice thing to have a longer period to plan and see what we can do.
"I wish all the girls that are going away all the best and hopefully they'll all come back healthy."
