Head coach Dario Vidosic admitted his side were fortunate to pick up a point after a goalless draw against Leicester City in the League Cup.
The Foxes won the penalty shoot-out 4-3 but Albion remain top of Group D and will qualify for the knockout stages if they beat Bristol City in their remaining group match on 11 December.
Vidosic felt his team were well below their best and were fortunate not to be beaten in 90 minutes. “I don’t think we even deserved to take it to penalties,” he said. “If Leicester had won it in 90 minutes we couldn’t have had any complaints.
“I thought the performance just wasn't there in any aspect. At times we defended well, but there were other times on stuff that we worked on when we were our own worst enemies.
“I think there was just a little bit of lack of intensity. Also, we made a lot of technical errors. We had passes that could get us out but we would miss them and we missed some really simple turnovers. I didn’t recognise us today, that wasn’t us.
“That just stopped us getting a little bit of rhythm and then at different times when we did get that control we would rush it and give the ball away. We couldn't get our game going, we made a lot of technical errors
“A lot of things were lacking but we need to learn. We are still top of the group so it’s all to play for in the final match.”
