Albion under-21s were beaten 1-0 by Hastings United at The Pilot Field on Wednesday.
It was the second game of the day for the squad, having beaten Bournemouth 5-1 at the Amex Elite Football Performance Centre.
A fresh Albion XI took part at the Pilot Field where Davide Rodari scored the only goal of the game in the 82nd minute with a fine finish.
Head coach Shannon Ruth said, “We created a few nice moments but not with enough consistency.
“We didn’t make the best decisions when getting to their final third – our final ball or finish let us down.
“Benicio [Baker-Boaitey] hit the bar with a fierce strike, but other than that our chances were limited.
“Out of possession we were inconsistent with our pressing – we had some good moments mixed in with some poor ones.
“Hastings provided a good test for our defence, as we had to deal with a lot of aerial duels and had to defend the box under pressure with the home crowd getting onto them. [Goalkeeper] Lorenz Ferdinand showed good personality in the face of that.
“It was a good lesson for the lads and a good reference point for this stage of pre-season.”
