Our men’s under-21s take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League 2 playoff last-16 on Monday night, kick-off 7pm.
We last faced Palace in Premier League 2 in October, with Shannon Ruth’s team securing a terrific 10-0 win.
The under-21s head coach is expecting a far more competitive tie, especially as the Eagles finished the regular season with just one defeat in eight matches.
“We are really looking forward to the game,” he said. “We believe we have made really good progress since January and we’re proud of some of the performances that this young group have put in.
“We are expecting a tough game. Palace have finished the season strongly and I don’t think our previous meeting has any reflection on what the evening’s game will bring.
“I expect it to be a tight and physical game, and the winner of the tie will no doubt deserve it through playing well.
“We are hoping to finish the season strongly – we want the playoff games to be the test of our progress.”
The game will be played at Sutton United's VBS Community Stadium. Extra-time and penalties will be played if the game isn't settled after 90 minutes.
The winner of the tie will face Chelsea or Wolverhampton Wanderers in the quarter-final.
