Our men’s under-18s continued their terrific start to the Premier League South campaign with a thumping 5-1 win over West Brom.
An opening day victory over Chelsea followed by draws with West Ham and Tottenham have meant Inigo Calderon’s team remain unbeaten.
It took just two minutes for Shane Nti to find the opener when he squeezed a low shot into the bottom corner after being played in down the side of the penalty area by Theo Outen.
With a minute played of first-half stoppage time Albion scored their second. Ronnie Gorman won the ball on the edge of the box as the Baggies tried to play out from the back and he found Layth Gulzar who fired home.
Nehemiah Oriola put the game out of reach after 66 minutes when he tapped in from Gorman’s pass, after the pair burst forward on a counter-attack.
Tyler Silsby then netted two late goals, cutting onto his right on the edge of the box before rifling into the bottom left corner, then pinching possession in the box and rolling it into an empty net with three minutes to go.
West Brom did grab a consolation goal when Divine Onyemachi headed in at the back stick in between Silsby's brace.
Calderon said, “I was very happy with the performance. They've been working really hard this international break. We didn't take a break because we wanted to improve and keep training. They deserve the result because of that.
“I think it was probably the most complete game we have played so far this season. How we were in and out of possession was the best game we’ve played.”
