Our men’s under-18s exit from the Premier League Cup on Saturday was confirmed despite a 3-1 win over Norwich City.
Defeats to Derby County and Manchester City meant that Albion needed a number of factors go their way to proceed to the next round, but goals from Nehemiah Oriola (2) and Aiden West ensured that we exited with our heads held high.
Under-18s head coach Calderon said, “It was a great result and it finished off a good week because we played in the Under-17s Cup in midweek against Arsenal and won 5-0.
“The weather conditions were so bad. The wind can be your worst enemy in football – I haven't seen anything like that in my life! But that made the win incredible.
“The way the boys approached the game, knowing they probably we wouldn't go through in this cup, was excellent. They approached the game ready to compete for the whole 90 minutes. They showed a great attitude. So I am really happy with the boys.
"Sometimes it's not about playing pretty or scoring goals – Saturday was about how you compete in difficult conditions and I saw a great mentality. I am really pleased with them.”
