Our men’s under-18s struck deep in second-half injury time to rescue a point against Arsenal on Saturday.
Having gone 2-0 up, Albion found themselves 3-2 down in the dying moments, but a Tyler Silsby scorcher ensured Inigo Calderon’s team's unbeaten start to Premier League South continued.
Albion went in front after 20 minutes when Shane Nti took the ball around goalkeeper Jack Talbot and squeezed his shot home from a tight angle.
The hosts took control of the contest when Nehemiah Oriola found Joe Belmont in the box, with the striker turning it in from close range after 33 minutes to double Albion's advantage.
Andre Annous did well to steal possession in the Albion box and fire in four minutes later, before making it 2-2 when he intercepted Tate Ferdinand’s free-kick and lobbed Alfie Mansell from 35 yards.
The visitors looked as if they had snatched all three points in the 89th minute when Annous completed his hat-trick, getting on the end of a flick and slotting home in composed fashion.
But Albion found a response in the sixth minute of added time, as Silsby’s rocket from the edge of the box bounced in off the underside of the crossbar to make it 3-3.
Men’s under-18s head coach Calderon said, “The highlight of the game was the last goal. The team showed great character, because we were not at our best level or not the same we were in the last few games. But we deserved to win. We did enough things right.
“But I want to highlight how we conceded at the end. Instead of collapsing or thinking that was unlucky we kept working to score and get the least we deserved.”
Albion: Mansell, Hayden, Mackley, Anah, Ferdinand (Silsby 56), Nti, Gulzar (56), West, Gorman (Ibrahim 76), Oriola, Belmont.
Unused subs: Middleton, Ademola.
