A hat-trick of assists, a first professional goal and a few first wins of the campaign saw a number of our players out on loan enjoy their weekends.
Goalkeepers
Kjell Scherpen’s Sturm Graz moved two points clear at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga thanks to a 4-2 win over WSG Tirol, but Malick Yalcouye wasn’t in Sturm's matchday squad after only joining them on Thursday. It wasn’t as an enjoyable weekend for our 'keepers in the Championship though, as James Beadle conceded three during Sheffield Wednesday's 3-0 defeat to Millwall, while Carl Rushworth watched on from the sidelines as Hull were beaten 2-0 by Leeds.
Defenders
Partick Thistle enjoyed their first win of the league season. Casper Nilsson was substituted late on as they defeated Queens Park 3-0, having lost 2-1 to Falkirk on the opening day.
Valentin Barco played 90 minutes as Sevilla lost 2-0 at home to Girona.
Midfielders
Andrew Moran started the week in style with a hat-trick of assists in Stoke’s 5-0 win over Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup, before starting for the Potters in their 1-0 win at Plymouth on Saturday.
Kamari Doyle scored his first professional goal as he curled in a wonderful free-kick for Exeter in their 2-0 win at Bolton, and there was a silver lining for Facundo Buonanotte despite Leicester City's 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, as the Argentinian scored the first goal of his loan spell with the Foxes.
The Lancashire derby between Burnley and Blackburn ended in a 1-1 draw, with Jeremy Sarmiento making his Clarets debut as a substitute. Amario Cozier-Duberry was an unused substitute for Rovers.
Samy Chouchane played 75 minutes in Northampton’s goalless draw with Burton, while in League Two, Luca Barrington and Benicio Baker-Boaitey were brought on for Grimsby and Port Vale respectively. The Mariners won 2-1 at home to Bradford City, but Vale were beaten 3-2 at home by Doncaster.
Strikers
Stade Brestois secured their first win of the Ligue 1 season as they thumped St Etienne 4-0 – Abdallah Sima played the first 70 minutes.
Finally, Mark O’Mahony made his Championship debut for Portsmouth, coming on for the final 30 minutes of their 3-1 home defeat to Sunderland.
