September internationals round-up
A full list of how our players got on during the international break.
Charlie Hanson
Jan Paul and Bart
It proved to be a busy international break, with players in action across the world in World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, as well as Nations League matches.
Simon Adingra – Ivory Coast
  • Ivory Coast 2-0 Zambia (Simon played 86 minutes)
  • Chad 0-2 Ivory Coast (Simon played 75 minutes)
Simon started both games as Ivory Coast secured two wins in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. That puts them top of Group G with six points.
Carlos Baleba – Cameroon
  • Cameroon 1-0 Namibia (Carlos played 90 minutes)
  • Zimbabwe 0-0 Cameroon (Carlos was substituted after 90+6 minutes)
Carlos played all but two minutes of his country’s games during the international break, as Cameroon embarked on their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign. They sit second in Group J after two games played.
Julio Enciso – Paraguay
  • Uruguay 0-0 Paraguay (Julio played 90 minutes)
  • Paraguay 1-0 Brazil (Julio played 85 minutes)
Julio was heavily involved in his country’s vital World Cup qualifying results, which fired them back into contention to qualify for the tournament in 2026. They sit seventh in the South American standings – a point off automatic qualification.
Pervis Estupinan, Jeremy Sarmiento – Ecuador
  • Brazil 1-0 Ecuador (Pervis played 85 minutes, Jeremy played 45 minutes)
  • Ecuador 1-0 Peru (Pervis played 87 minutes, Jeremy was an unused substitute)
Pervis Estupinan started both games as Ecuador moved up to fourth in the South American World Cup qualifying table. Jeremy started against Brazil, before watching from the sidelines as Ecuador beat bottom of the group Peru.
Evan Ferguson – Republic of Ireland
  • Republic of Ireland 0-2 England (Evan was substituted on after 82 minutes)
  • Republic of Ireland 0-2 Greece (Evan was substituted on after 63 minutes)
Evan came on in both of the Republic of Ireland’s defeats in their Nations League matches. They sit third in their group, above bottom placed Finland on goal difference.
Tariq Lamptey – Ghana
  • Ghana 0-1 Angola (Tariq played 90 minutes)
  • Niger 1-1 Ghana (Tariq played 90 minutes)
Tariq didn’t miss a minute of action for the Black Stars, but their results leave them third in Group F of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Yankuba Minteh – The Gambia
  • Comoros 1-1 The Gambia (Yankuba played 90 minutes)
  • The Gambia 1-2 Tunisia (Yankuba played 90 minutes)
Yankuba helped his country get their first point on the board in Group A of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He set up The Gambia’s equaliser against Tunisia after a wonderful run, but the team were beaten 2-1.
Kaoru Mitoma – Japan
  • Japan 7-0 China (Kaoru played 63 minutes)
  • Bahrain 0-5 Japan (Kaoru played 73 minutes)
Japan enjoyed an incredible start to the third round of 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Asia, scoring 12 goals without conceding in their two games. Kaoru scored one and assisted another in the 7-0 defeat of China, before setting one up in the 5-0 win against Bahrain. They sit top of Group C, which should they hold on to, as they look to qualify for the tournament in Mexico, the USA and Canada.
Jakub Moder – Poland
  • Scotland 2-3 Poland (Jakub was substituted on after 82 minutes)
  • Croatia 1-0 Poland (Jakub was substituted on after 62 minutes)
A last-minute penalty saw Poland secure all three points against Scotland, but Luka Modric scored the only goal of the game as Croatia beat Poland 1-0 in Osijek. That sees Poland sitting in third in the Nations League A Group 1 table.
Abdallah Sima – Senegal
  • Senegal 1-1 Burkina Faso (Abdallah was an unused substitute)
  • Burundi 0-1 Senegal (Abdallah was substituted on after 90 minutes)
Having conceded a 96th minute equaliser against Burkina Faso, Senegal got a vital win against Burundi to lift them into second place in Group L of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations – which, should they maintain, would see them qualify for next year’s tournament.
Jan Paul van Hecke, Bart Verbruggen – The Netherlands
  • The Netherlands 5-2 Bosnia & Herzegovina (Bart played 90 minutes, Jan Paul was an unused substitute)
  • The Netherlands 2-2 Germany (Bart played 90 minutes, Jan Paul was substituted on after 46 minutes)
Jan Paul van Hecke made his senior Netherlands debut in their second Nations League match of the September international break, as they drew 2-2 with Germany. Former Albion man Deniz Undav scored his first goal for the Germans, but with Jan Paul in defence in the second half, Julian Nagelsmann’s side couldn’t find a third goal. Bart Verbruggen also pulled off a good save when Undav ran through on goal late on, standing tall as the striker attempted a chip.
Yasin Ayari – Sweden
  • Azerbaijan 1-3 Sweden (Yasin played for 72 minutes)
  • Sweden 3-0 Estonia (Yasin played for 63 minutes)
Yasin started consecutive games for Sweden as they made it back-to-back wins in their Nations League matches. They sit top of League C Group 1 with six points.
James Beadle, Jack Hinshelwood – England U21s
  • Northern Ireland U21s 0-0 England U21s (James and Jack were unused substitutes)
  • England U21s 4-1 Austria U21s (James and Jack both played the full game)
Mark O’Mahony – Republic of Ireland U21s
  • Turkey U21s 0-1 Republic of Ireland U21s (Mark came on after 77 minutes)
  • Republic of Ireland U21s 2-2 Latvia U21s (Mark was an unused substitute)
Georginio Rutter – France U21s
  • France U21s 1-1 Slovenia U21s (Georginio came on after 69 minutes)
  • France U21s 2-0 Bosnia & Herzegovina U21s (Georginio came on after 88 minutes)
Harry Howell, Freddie Simmonds – England U17s
  • England U17s 5-0 Mexico U17s (Harry started and scored twice, Freddie came on after 61 minutes)
  • England U17s 0-0 Israel U17s (Freddie played for 65 minutes, Harry came on after 76 minutes)
  • Germany U17s 1-3 England U17s (Harry played for 79 minutes, Freddie came on after 72 minutes)
