Danny Welbeck hailed a 'ruthless' performance as Albion started the new Premier League campaign with a 3-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park.
Having weathered an early storm by the hosts, Kaoru Mitoma put Albion ahead in his first game since March.
Welbeck scored for the 15th Premier League season in a row when he made it 2-0 and substitute Simon Adingra got a late third. Everton finished with ten men after Ashley Young was shown a straight red.
Welbeck said, "I thought it was a great performance, from the new head coach, the fans and then onto the pitch. We had to go through a rocky period but once we got the first goal we were ruthless and that put us into a great position."
Welbeck was delighted to see Mitoma back among the goals.
"He is a special talent and we all know the ability he’s got," he added. "In one v ones there’s not many better in the Premier League and it’s great to have him back and adding to the firepower we’ve got."
Welbeck was asked about the transition to a new head coach in Fabian Hurzeler.
"We’ve had to adapt to the new manager’s ideas but we’ve had an open mind and taken it forward," he added. "It’s not massively different to what we were used to and there’s a lot to be positive about going forward into the rest of the season."
