Diego Gomez has admitted that becoming accustomed to the weather on the south coast has been difficult since his move from Miami last month.
While we can look forward to highs of up to seven degrees in Brighton this week, Florida will be enjoying up to 27-degree heat.
“From the first day I arrived I have also had to get used to the weather," Diego said. "That was the first thing I felt – the cold.
"It was really hot in Miami, in Paraguay as well it was always hot. This is my first time in this climate. It is always better to play in the cold rather than in the hot though.”
The heat has been turned up in training and in games in England for Diego.
“The games here are very intense and dynamic and I am getting used to it bit by bit. Also to the culture here.
“Luckily, my colleagues are treating me very well at training sessions, at all times. I am getting used to the culture and also the climate.
“From the first day I got here, Pervis has been helping me, Joao [Pedro], Cash [Eiran Cashin] as well. He speaks a little Spanish and that helps me quite a lot.

“I also had Julio [Enciso] here, who has now gone to another club. We are always talking. Before the game he sent me a message and wished me a lot of success. I can always count on him!”
Now the 21-year-old is focussed on forcing his way into the starting 11, especially after an impressive substitute appearance in our 2-1 win over Chelsea in the FA Cup.
“I obviously want to get more minutes and be first choice, bit by bit. It was really hard for me in the first training sessions.
The pace, the dynamic of training sessions and matches after I had had two months without playing.
“My last match was in November and I had had plenty of holiday. I got back to training to the maximum and doing what the coach asked of me.
“I speak a little English. I learn a lot from listening to my teammates. I have been in the USA, where they speak English, but in Miami there are a lot of Latin Americans so a lot of Spanish is spoken.
“I am studying two or three times a week because it is difficult not being able to understand everything.”
