Four of our players were on the scoresheet in another busy week for our loan players.
Premier League
Facundo Buonanotte continues to make an impression for Leicester City. The Argentina midfielder scored his third Premier League goal of the season to help the Foxes come from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Southampton. He has also contributed two assists, and his progress is pleasing manager Steve Cooper.
“He's definitely taken his opportunities so far,” said Cooper. “We're continuing to enjoy working with him. He’s aggressive without the ball and we have to make sure we give him the platform to work with it. Although he’s not our player, we’ll still commit to him like he’s ours.”
Championship
Andrew Moran had a busy week. He was on target for the Republic of Ireland U21s in a 1-1 draw against Italy last Tuesday and then helped Stoke City draw 1-1 with Norwich on Saturday.
James Beadle kept a clean sheet to help England qualify for next summer’s U21 Euros with a 7-0 win over Azerbaijan. On domestic duty on Saturday Beadle was beaten twice as Sheffield Wednesday lost 2-0 to Burnley.
Jeremy Sarmiento played the last 17 minutes for the Clarets, having been an unused sub on Wednesday in Ecuador’s goalless draw against Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier.
Mark O’Mahony played for nine minutes in Ireland U21s draw with Italy and then had 69 minutes on Saturday as Portsmouth beat QPR 2-1 to claim their first league win of the season.
League One
Kamari Doyle’s impressive loan spell with Exeter continued with a goal in their 2-0 victory at Shrewsbury while Odel Offiah played 90 minutes for Blackpool who went down 2-1 at home to Barnsley to a last-minute goal.
League Two
Benicio Baker-Boaitey came on for the last 24 minutes in leaders Port Vale’s 3-1 win over Fleetwood Town while Tom McGill played from the start to help MK Dons win 3-1 at Morecambe. Grimsby were thumped 4-1 at home by Walsall with Luca Barrington coming off with six minutes to go.
Europe
Ibrahim Osman scored and created two of Feyenoord’s goals in their 5-1 win over Go Ahead Eagles in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Kjell Scherpen was beaten twice in the Austrian Bundesliga, but Sturm Graz still enjoyed a 5-2 victory over local rivals Graz AK with Malick Yalcouye playing for 69 minutes for Sturm.
In Spain, Valentin Barco was an unused sub in Seville’s 5-1 defeat at Barcelona.
