Stefanos Tzimas kept Nurnberg’s hopes of promotion back to the Bundesliga alive with a well-taken goal in Der Altmeister’s 3-0 win against Greuther Furth on Sunday.
The 19-year-old, who was recently named in GOAL’s top 50 teenage wonderkids in the world, scored Nurnberg’s third in first-half stoppage time and lifted them to seventh in Germany’s second tier.
Tzimas now has 12 league goals this season ahead of becoming the first Greek player to represent the Albion when he arrives this summer.
The other Albion loanee to score over the weekend was Caylan Vickers, who is impressing on loan at Mansfield Town in League One, as the Stags beat Barnsley 2-1.
Vickers, 20, joined Nigel Clough’s side on loan in January until the end of the season and his opener against the Tykes lifted Mansfield eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Elsewhere in the EFL, James Beadle played the full 90 minutes for Sheffield Wednesday against rivals Sheffield United in the Championship, but the Owls suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat in the Steel City derby.
Andrew Moran also lost in the second tier, as Stoke were beaten in the 98th minute by Millwall, while Amario Cozier-Duberry’s 30-minute cameo couldn’t prevent Blackburn from a 2-1 defeat to Cardiff and Mark O’Mahony’s 22-minute appearance for Portsmouth was in vain as Preston beat our South Coast counterparts 2-1.
There was more success in the Championship for Burnley, as Scott Parker’s side beat Swansea 2-0 to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive, but Jeremy Sarmiento was an unused substitute in Wales.
Heading into League One, Odel Offiah played 90 minutes for Blackpool as the Tangerines lost 2-1 to Leyton Orient and Kemari Doyle’s Crawley were thrashed 5-1 at Huddersfield, while in League Two Luca Barrington played the final 18 minutes of Grimsby’s 1-0 loss at fellow play-off chasers, Salford.

Our players in top-tier action also endured a weekend of mixed results, with Julio Enciso and Facundo Buonanotte both tasting defeat in the Premier League. The former’s 78-minute showing for Ipswich couldn’t prevent the Tractor Boys from losing 4-2 to Nottingham Forest, while the latter’s Leicester were well beaten by Manchester United - but Buonanotte only played the last 25 minutes of that 3-0 defeat.
Evan Ferguson’s West Ham were on the brink of victory against Everton, but conceded a last-minute leveller – and our Irishman was unable to make an impact on the game after only coming on for the final 60 seconds.
Over in the Austrian top-flight, Kjell Scherpen and Malick Yalcouye both played 90 minutes as Sturm Graz beat LASK 4-2 while in France, Valentin Barco helped Strasbourg beat Toulouse 2-1 in Ligue 1.
Abdallah Sima had to miss his Ligue 1 match for Stade Brest, who drew 0-0 with Stade Reims, through injury but Ibrahim Osman was able to play the second half of Feyenoord’s 6-2 win at FC Twente in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Meanwhile in the Women’s Championship, Portsmouth boosted their survival hopes with a second successive win as they beat Sunderland 2-1. Hannah Poulter was between the sticks as Pompey moved two points clear of the relegation zone.
