Brighton & Hove Albion v Manchester City 09NOV24.084
This season we are experience a few ongoing ticketing issues, which are impacting you and your fellow Albion supporters both here at the Amex and on the road.
Below you'll find essential updates for the rest of the 2024/25 season about:
  • Using the ticket exchange & why it benefits all supporters
  • Away fans in home areas & how we can stop this occuring
  • Passing on of away tickets & what this can mean for you
We ask that you read all the below information carefully.
Ticket exchange and resales
You may be aware of the club’s ongoing efforts to ensure supporters, and in particular season ticket holders, are re-listing tickets for sale on the exchange when unable to use them.
We appreciate there are a number of different reasons why fans may not be able to attend a match, but whenever possible we would ask that you always list your ticket, as this has a number of benefits for yourself, the club and fellow supporters.
  1. It allows more supporters to come to the Amex on any given matchday, when otherwise they might not get in, and ultimately it means more support for Fabian and the team
  2. You receive a refund on your ticket, less a small administration fee. You may list your ticket as many times as you wish per season (NB: season ticket holders must attend a minimum of 25% of matches to guarantee they retain their ticket the following season)
  3. With all our Premier League matches selling out, it pays to list your ticket and the earlier you list, the more chance of a resale
  4. You re-listing helps the club, as it enables us to resell the ticket. While much is made about the club reselling the ticket at an adult price (we can't sell at the pro-rata rate, as that would undercut our own matchday pricing), please be assured that extra turnover reinvested into the team and helps us to keep ticket prices reasonable and increases at a minimum, so ultimately benefits you as supporters
It’s also important to remember the earlier you list, the more chance you have of reselling your ticket (97% of tickets which were listed five days or more, prior to the Manchester City match, were re-sold).
If you are unable to attend for a significant period of time, due to work, health or other reasons, supporter services can assist you with available options to ensure you can retain your seat and resume your support of the team at the appropriate time.
Away fans in home areas
This has become a significant and time-consuming issue for our safety and stewarding teams, with away fans in general admission home areas — purchasing tickets as members, as season ticket holders’ guests or via other unofficial means.
In recent seasons, we have had several flashpoints and difficult situations for our stewarding team, in response to away fans in home areas.
Firstly, this is a breach of Premier League and Football League ground regulations – which as a member club we must adhere to.
The ground regulations have been in place across all leagues for several decades and we feel all supporters should be aware of the segregation in place — not just at the Amex but in all football stadia across the country.
We also know from feedback, a large number of our supporters do not wish to sit with away fans in home areas and are supportive of this stance.
The club has always operated a zero tolerance approach on away fans in home areas, and will always enforce this if someone identifies as an away fan in a home area, either by wearing colours or celebrating an away team goal.
If you are aware of away supporters in the home areas, please discretely report to your nearest steward to take the appropriate action, and do not try to intervene.
Please be reminded tickets should only be passed on to other supporters via official channels, using the ticket exchange or by upgrading or sharing and assigning your ticket to the new owner, as this protects all involved.
Passing on away tickets
Sadly we are finding a number of supporters are still passing on away match tickets, as this season there have been several arrests and ejections of supporters whose details do not match the ticket owner’s details.
As a result we will now be forced to reintroduce random ID checks at away turnstiles moving forward; and some tickets will randomly be retained and held for collection at away grounds with matching photo ID required for collection and entry.
All supporters are reminded that away match tickets are for the sole use of the assigned owner, and the reason being those supporters who are attending games without the sufficient loyalty points are blocking legitimate attendees from buying.
Additionally, the arrests and ejections, now show there is now a much higher likelihood of those supporters obtaining tickets in this manner to behave in an antisocial manner.
Any supporter found to be passing on away tickets will be subject to a match ban as per the club's sanction policy.
We would like to apologise to the vast majority of our supporters, who adhere with the club's ticket loyalty scheme, for the inconvenience this causes.
1901 Club members must continue to provide the details of the attendee for any away tickets they purchase. This requires a first name and surname to be provided at the time of booking and this name cannot be changed after the sale has been completed.
Thank you for your ongoing cooperation, understanding and amazing support.
