Horsham win Sussex Senior Cup
Horsham made it a season to remember as they retained the Sussex Transport Senior Cup with a 1-0 win over Littlehampton Town at the Amex on Thursday night.
Promoted as champions of the Isthmian League premier last week, the Hornets won a hard-fought final 1-0 thanks to a brilliant free-kick by James Hammond into the top corner in the final minute of stoppage time.
Horsham had been the more threatening side in a game of few clear-cut chances, but Littlehampton had arguably the best opportunity with 15 minutes to go when striker George Gaskin headed wide from close range with only keeper Lewis Carey to beat.
For Horsham Lucas Rodrigues hit the post early in the second half after a goalmouth scramble and substitute James Brivio missed a late chance before Hammond's stunning strike into the top corner ensured Horsham became the first team to retain the trophy since Albion in 2017 and 2018.
