Our men’s under-18s continued their good start to the Premier League South campaign as they drew 1-1 with West Ham on Saturday.
Joe Belmont scored midway through the first half for Albion, but the Irons grabbed a late equaliser thanks to Airidas Golambeckis.
The result means Inigo Calderon’s team have now taken four points off last season’s league winners Chelsea and runners-up West Ham in their opening two matches of the new season.
“It was a good game – maybe not as good as our win over Chelsea the week before, but I think we did enough to win,” Calderon explained. “We bettered the possession for the majority of the game, it was just a lack of concentration from one cross that we just disconnected and switched off at that time.
“We know that we cannot switch off at any time during the game. So I am disappointed because I think we deserve to win it, but I am happy with the performance and the start of the season.
“It's been really good because we have competed very well against the best two teams of last year.
“We’ve got four points and we were better than both of the teams we have faced so far. But the best thing is we have a big room to improve. So I am really looking forward to us continuing to work and keep develop.”
