Our kit staff are set to embark on an incredible charity walk this summer to celebrate 35 years of the BHAFC Foundation, raising money for our charitable arm along the way.
In June, kit manager Alex Burrows aka ‘Buzz’ and kit assistant Harry Wood, along with social media manager Matt Bishop, will be walking 35 miles from Rustington to the Amex aiming to raise £35,000 – a mile and £1,000 for each year of our Foundation – while donating kit to local schools on route.
“It’s an idea that has completely snowballed into this huge event,” Buzz explained.
“As a kit team, we work closely with the Foundation and we all know the amazing work they have done in the local area to change lives through football over the last 35 years. We’re hoping to raise some money to help them over the next 35."
Buzz’s Charity Walk will start on Wednesday 25 June in Rustington and finish at the Amex on Friday 27 June, with special guests and an auction planned along the way, before an exciting finale at The Terrace.
“The closer the walk gets, the more daunting it becomes,” said Harry. “But I think it’s brilliant and it will be an honour to raise money for these amazing charities.
“In my role, I have seen first-hand how incredible the Foundation’s community work is, so contributing to them in our own little way is a really nice feeling. Pushing the skips might not be such a nice feeling – but it will all be completely worth it.”
As well as raising money for the Foundation, there will be some selected prizes in the auction raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity.
“Recently, my son got diagnosed with a brain tumour and we have received some amazing support from this charity.” said Buzz. “As a thank you, and to give something back to The Brain Tumour Charity, we will have some unique items in the auction to raise funds for them.”
If you would like to donate to Buzz’s Charity Walk and the Foundation, visit justgiving.com/page/buzzcharitywalk or click here – and keep an eye on the club’s social media channels for more details and fundraising plans. “Any donations will be massively appreciated.” said Buzz. “It’s taken a lot of organising to get to this point so we already owe a big thank you to Lauren Ellis, Julie Bettridge and Lucy Cotter from the Foundation – and thank you to everyone at The Brain Tumour Charity for your continued support."
