Albion spent much of the first half on the defensive and had a let-off in the 16th minute when Ben Jackson made a brilliant goal-line clearance after Tom McGill turned Chris Forino’s shot onto the upright. Three minutes later Luke Leahy’s inswinging corner struck the post.
Albion gradually worked their way into the game and created two good chances. On the half-hour Cam Peupion found Casper Nilsson overlapping but the defender’s shot was smothered by Max Stryjek. Peupion then exchanged passes with Louis Flower but his effort from the edge of the D was blocked.
The visitors seemed to have got a foothold in the game but by the break they found themselves 3-0 down. Jackson did well to deflect Dale Taylor’s shot onto the post but Kieran Sadlier slammed the loose ball past McGill at the near post for the 40th-minute opener.

In their next attack Luke Leahy swung in a deep ball from the right which went in via the head of the unfortunate Leigh Kavanagh and in stoppage time Taylor dummied a cross and Kieran Sadlier made it 3-0 from close range.
There was no respite after the break. Taylor slalomed past two opponents before rounding McGill and making it 4-0 with a fine finish three minutes into the second half and Albion’s night got worse when Mullins was shown a red card after a melee involving several players which followed a strong challenge by Wycombe midfielder Freddie Potts.

But the ten men pulled a goal back on 65 minutes when Barrington ran onto a great pass by Josh Duffus, rounded Stryjek and side-footed into an empty net. Barrington fired narrowly over and although their cup run was over Albion at least ended with a flourish. The ovation they got from around 200 Albion fans at the end was richly deserved.
