Danny Welbeck is confident Albion can achieve âmore special momentsâ after signing his new two-year contract with the club, but first he has targeted a strong finish to the season.
The 33-year-old striker has been with Albion since 2020 and scored 25 goals and provided eight assists in 123 appearances.
âFirst and foremost, we want to finish this season as strongly as possible,â he said. âNext season weâre not in European competition so we will focus on the domestic cups and the Premier League, which gives us a bit more leeway in terms of recovery and that extra time gelling together as a squad.
Danny Welbeck has made 123 appearances in his Albion career so far.
âA couple more key acquisitions for the squad will help us push on next season and I am pretty sure we can achieve some more special moments.â
Welbeck is proud of the part he has played in Albionâs progression since he signed for the club after spells in the Premier League with Manchester United, Arsenal and Watford.
âIâve had an amazing time. Each season has been special, and weâve progressed every year. This season has been very difficult with the Europa League commitments. The fixture list has been different, but itâs been a great step. Weâve lost some good players and key players have been injured so itâs been difficult, but we shouldnât underestimate the hard work weâve put in and where weâve come from.
The striker has four Premier League goals so far this campaign.
âI am really pleased to carry on the journey, to keep pushing myself and the club as far as we can go.â
Roberto De Zerbi has regularly referenced Welbeck when he has spoken about the influence of the experienced players in his dressing room.
âIâve been able to have conversations with some of the younger lands and give a bit of advice to get them through any tough periods theyâre facing. Weâve got some great senior members of the squad and, mixing that with the youth, hopefully that can produce special things in future.â
