Inigo Calderon hailed the men's under-18s 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Saturday as his team's best performance of the season.
Albion took the lead when they forced Spurs to give away possession midway inside their half, with Ronnie Gorman smartly flicking it into the path of Shane Nti who held off a defender before slotting it into the bottom left corner after 35 minutes.
Spurs got their equaliser when Mikey Moore squeezed his shot in from a tight angle before Ellis Lehane was first to a loose ball in the box to put the visitors in the lead with a volley just after the restart.
Spurs looked as if they would be going three points clear at the top of the table, but with five minutes of normal time to play Harry Howell embarked on a great run from midway inside the Tottenham half, before cutting the ball across goal and firing into the bottom corner from 16 yards.
Zane Albarus also played in Albion under-21s defeat to Crystal Palace on Friday.
The point sees Albion remain in ninth spot in Premier League South.
Calderon said, “It was the best performance of the season. Mainly because we showed our best identity and idea for a longer period than we have done before.
“Normally we have good spells, but we haven’t been able to do it consistently in games. We were very nearly perfect against Tottenham. It wasn’t perfect because we would have won if it had been, but I am still really proud of the boys because after the defeat in the FA Youth Cup last week the boys were really hurt, because they wanted to do well in the competition.
“In the end it’s a point against the best team in the league according to the table. That’s the second time a team that is top of the table have come here and we’ve got a result against them, after we beat Fulham earlier in the season.
“It shows we can compete in all games. The players have been working really hard, we are in a good way.”
