Leandro Trossard's hat-trick at Anfield was the first scored there in the Premier League since Andrey Arshavin's in 2009.

Roberto De Zerbi is already having his impact tactically on the first team according to Leandro Trossard, although the Italian is keen to not undo the work done by his predecessor Graham Potter.

Having arrived at the start of the September international break, the Italian had a limited amount of sessions with his full squad ahead of Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Liverpool, but was already drilling his team on how he wants them to play.

“Under the new manager you can see how he wants to play and in the last week he has trained us a lot on the tactical side,” Trossard said.

“He wants us to play out from the back and in a special way. We have some exciting times coming up with him.

“He said as well that he didn’t want to change too much because he didn’t have the time, that’s why he kept the system in place from before.”

Leo reckons Roberto is very hands on as he gets to know his new team.

“He’s much more present, he’s more active in a certain way, he’s always there, always shouting, not in a bad way, but you just notice his presence. He’s so passionate about football.

He’s trying to get to know us, as well as what we’re about on the pitch. It’s different to before.

“He loves to play in the rondos with us, he’s quite good to be fair. He’s a young coach, and he can still play.”

Albion currently sit fourth in the Premier League after seven games. While Trossard accepts expectation will naturally grow, he was keen to point out that we had the same amount of points (14 from seven games), as we did at the same stage last season.

“We have had a great start to the season, but we had that last year and then had some difficult results – you can see how tough the Premier League is.

“You can have a bad run of five or six games where you don’t get a result and all of a sudden things are very different. Expectations will always be there if you’re doing well, but it’s up to us to improve and play well, like we are now.”
