Hope Powell believes striker Elisabeth Terland’s work ethic can help her become a top player.

Terland is in line to make her first home appearance for Albion on Sunday against Reading at the Amex after an impressive debut against Arsenal last week, despite our 4-0 defeat.

The Norwegian international had a great chance to score against the Gunners when she hit a left-foot shot inches wide a couple of minutes before Arsenal went in front. Playing a lone role up front after Emma Kullberg’s early red card, the 21-year-old impressed with her work rate and positional play.

Powell said, “She’s got a big future in the game. She’s very ambitious, she wants to be a top striker for club and country and is prepared to put in the work.

“She was really disappointed that she didn’t score against Arsenal. She reflects quite deeply on her game for a young player because she really wants to do well and improve. Straightaway after the game she said she wanted some dedicated time to do some shooting.

“She wants to do more to get better, we just have to manage what ‘more’ looks like but she’s a really good kid and a great addition to our team.”
