The Opposition
Wolves currently sit fifth in the Northern Premier Division, the third tier of the women’s game, with five wins from their 11 league games. Their most recent league game was last Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to leaders Newcastle United.
Top scorer Amber Hughes has netted 11 goals this season.
They reached the last 16 thanks to a 2-1 win at Championship outfit Reading in the fourth round thanks to goals from Beth Merrick and Destiney Toussaint. Wolves have won four games to reach this stage and scored 21 goals. In earlier rounds they beat Stourbridge 8-0, Peterborough United 7-0 and Hull City 4-1. Amber Hughes has scored six goals in the competition for them.
Player to watch
Hughes has scored 11 goals in all competitions. She has been at the club since 2021 having previously played for Coventry United and Nottingham Forest. The Birmingham City fan works in the city as a special needs teacher.
FA Cup history
Albion will be trying to reach the quarter-finals for the third successive season and in two of the last three seasons they have gone on to reach the last four. Wolves’ only appearance in the last eight was in 1999 when they lost 1-0 to Leeds United.
