Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has described Albion as a ‘a fantastic success story’ after the club helped launch the new season.
It came on the day an economic impact report found that Albion contributed £595m to the local economy last season when we finished a club-record sixth in the Premier League and qualified for the Europa League for the first time, the most successful season in our 122-year history.
He said, “I remember being at Withdean when the future of the club looked pretty precarious, but look at them now.
“They are a fantastic success story about turning aspiration into achievement, which is what the English football pyramid delivers.
“If you do a good job on and off the pitch you will get your rewards and European football is their reward. They have had a huge impact on the local community, it’s a real success story.”

Former Albion striker Bobby Zamora also attended the launch and says it’s hard to believe the transformation in the club’s fortunes since he first joined back in 2000.
“I do look back on that time as special but when you look at the progress of the club it’s incredible what has been achieved in a relatively short period of time.
“The local area – the community, the fans – are what make this club so special. Each year there has been progress culminating in Europa League football and it’s been an amazing journey.
“The Premier League launch being in Brighton says so much about what the club have achieved, particularly in the last couple of seasons. I think a lot of clubs look at Brighton as a role model – how they are run on and off the field.”
