Midfielder says squad have big ambitions as the run-in gathers pace.

Adam Lallana says Albion are determined their European experience won’t be a one-off.

A second successive season of continental competition is the aim according to the experienced midfielder and a good result against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane today would be a big confidence boost.

“We’re fighting to get European football again, we don’t want this season to be a one-off,” said Lallana. “We just take each game as it comes and keep listening to the boss. We’ve got players back which is important and it’s great to have a couple of wingers back. You need a big squad to go deep, my experience has taught me that.”

Adam Lallana returned to the starting line-up against Spurs last Saturday.

Albion won 5-2 at Bramall Lane in the FA Cup three weeks ago but Lallana is expecting a much tougher afternoon today against a side boosted by last week’s win over Luton Town.

“It’s going to be extremely tough,” added Lallana. “They had a great result against Luton where we had taken a heavy defeat.

“We beat Sheffield, Luton beat us and Sheffield beat Luton – it’s not meant to work out like that, but it shows how tough the Premier League is, you can’t have an off day because you will get punished.

"Sheffield United are fighting for their lives, we know how difficult it’s going to be today.”
