Defender departs after eight years with Albion.

Haydon Roberts spent last season on loan with Derby County.

Defender Haydon Roberts will complete a permanent move to Championship side Bristol City for undisclosed terms, on 30 June when his contract with Albion expires.

The 21-year-old joined our academy in October 2015, climbing up through the ranks before making his first-team debut in 2019, scoring in our Carabao Cup defeat to Aston Villa. In total he made six first-team appearances for us.

He has since spent time on loan with Rochdale and was a regular for Derby County last season as they finished seventh in League One.

Technical director David Weir said, “It’s been great to see a local lad in Haydon come through the academy and prove himself in the EFL, and this move to Bristol City is a fantastic opportunity him.

“We wish Haydon the best of luck for the future.”
