Roberto De Zerbi admitted that Albion paid for their wastefulness in front of goal despite being ‘proud’ of his team's performance in the 1-0 defeat to Wolves.
Mario Lemina’s early goal earned the Molineux outfit a home FA Cup quarter-final with Coventry City as Albion failed to make more of 72% possession.
De Zerbi said, “I think we played very well but we made a lot of mistakes in the goal area. I am proud of the performance, especially with a lot of young players.
“With nine injured or suspended players it is very difficult to compete against Wolves and at this level of competition.
Valentin Barco impressed when he came on to make his debut at Molineux in the second half.

“We had a lot of chances to score, we arrived in the goal area especially in the first half many times and we didn’t shoot or make the right decision.
“For sure, we could shoot more times, but we played well enough to score [at least] one goal.
“In football, who scores wins – we didn’t score and we lost the game.”
