Alzate and Adingra were both on loan in Belgium during the 2022/23 campaign.
Technical director David Weir says both Steven Alzate and Simon Adingra are expected to be part of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad going into this season’s domestic and European campaign.
The pair spent last season playing in Belgium: Steven with Standard Liege and Simon at Union St Gilloise, and each proved key players at their respective clubs.
Colombian international Alzate played 27 times, netting three goals for Liege; while Ivory Coast international Adingra played 30 games, scoring 11 and contributing nine assists.
David explained, “Steven and Simon had great seasons last season. They both went on loan to a really competitive league. They both played lots of minutes. They both had a really positive impact in terms of how they played.
“To see that, it makes it clear to us we have got to give them the opportunity to come back in and we think they are capable of affecting our group this year.”
Steven will report back for pre-season next Monday, while Simon will be back the following week, as he was on international duty with Ivory Coast this month.
David added, “The expectation is they will be here with us to help our group and that is where it is at. We are excited to see them.
“Simon has not been here full-time. He has been here briefly when we signed him and then very quickly went on loan.
“Steven has obviously been here and we all know what he is capable of. He has got a great opportunity to come in and affect our group. We are excited by the prospect of that for both.”
