Pauline Bremer says Albion need to work on the basics and come back stronger in 2024 after a tough 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in the Women's Super League.
Adriana Leon scored the game's only goal in the 63rd minute as the Villans, who had Maz Pacheco sent off in the 89th minute, leapfrogged the Sussex side into ninth in the table.
Despite the narrow defeat, forward Bremer said Albion weren't good enough at Bescot Stadium on Sunday night.
"We are all really, really disappointed. We weren't good enough today (Sunday) in all areas and we didn't create a lot. We have a lot to reflect on and we need to work on the basics. We're really disappointed but we are ready to work to make it better," she said.
"I think [we need to improve] easy things like one-on-one duels, closing down the player quicker and not letting them play, have a little bit more movement, show and go, and create situations for us. We did get into the final third but our final ball didn't have enough quality."
Albion saw a huge turnover of players in the summer and Bremer says they will try to become a more cohesive unit in the second half of the season.
However, the German added they cannot rest on their laurels and Melissa Phillips' team still can finish higher up the table; plus, they have the Conti Cup and FA Cup to play for.
"It's a completely new squad. There have been some ups and downs with this team but the good thing is we are still progressing. We know we have a lot of work to do but there have been some positives in the first half of the season. I think we need to focus on that and keep working hard," she added.
"I think it's very important and how we come back in January will be decisive. We can rest but then we will do a lot of work, work on the things we have to improve, get fitter and better - there is lots to play for in the second half of the season."
