Guro Bergsvand felt Albion's inability to recapture the momentum they built up before half time was key to their 2-0 loss to West Ham on Sunday.  Brighton responded well to Kirsty Smith's 12th-minute opener at Broadfield Stadium, with Pauline Bremer and Elisabeth Terland repeatedly going close for the hosts in the first half. However, after building up ahead of steam before the break, Melissa Phillips' side started the second half slowly and Riko Ueki pounced to double the Hammers' lead in the 51st minute. That, according to Bergsvand, proved to be crucial, as the east London team came away with all three points in the Women's Super League clash. "Obviously we didn't get the start that we wanted in the first half but slowly we got into it and created a lot of chances. It would have been great if we could have got to half time with one or maybe two goals," she said.

"We spoke at half time about starting the second half how we finished the first. We had the momentum and then you get the break and things changed and we weren't able to keep that going in the second half. "The second half was weird, so many stoppages and back and forth and them scoring in the beginning was not good. We still had time but unfortunately we weren't able to get on the scoresheet." While the defeat was hard to take, the Norwegian international says Albion need to pick themselves up for a busy week, which starts with a FA Women's League Cup game against Championship side Birmingham City, before a WSL clash against Tottenham at the Amex on Sunday. Bergsvand added: "That's what is nice, there is always a new opportunity, and for us that comes on Wednesday. We need to look at what we can do better from this game, we need to improve a lot of things and then we go again with a clean slate."
