Bart Verbruggen kept a clean sheet against Ajax.
Bart Verbruggen revealed that he had extra supporters as well as his family in the Johan Cruyff Arena where his clean sheet was one of the cornerstones of Albion’s brilliant win over Ajax.
The players from his old club Anderlecht made the trip from Belgium to support him and Verbruggen was able to catch up with them after his clean sheet in the 2-0 win.
“I had 10-15 family members but my whole old Anderlecht team came in their team coach and I got a chance to see them afterwards which was a really nice moment,” he said. “It was nice that they still think of me and nice that my family support me in the way they do.”

Verbruggen admitted he enjoyed the virtuoso performances of goalscorers Ansu Fati and Simon Adingra as much as the Albion fans high in the arena.
“Ansu Fati’s qualities aren’t even under discussion, he is so important for us. Being in goal and watching him and Simon Adingra do their thing was as enjoyable for me as it would be for our fans.
“It’s back to back clean sheets too [in the Europa League]. Ajax is a massive club and we saw a different team last night but we still beat them. To come here and play against this team was on my bucket list and I’m just happy that we won.

“We enjoyed last night but now we analyse today and after 24 hours it’s [focus on] Sheffield United only.
“We shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves, we’re doing well but we can focus on improving and looking only at the game in front of us. If we can do that, the future can be bright.”
